CAIRO – 26 September 2021: On September 26 at 7 p.m., Head of the Plastic Arts Sector Khaled Sorour will inaugurate an art exhibition at Mahmoud Mokhtar Cultural Center as part of the sector’s participation in the ministry’s program.

This comes after Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem had announced 2021 the year of the late pioneering writer and thinker Tharwat Okasha.

Sorour stated that Tharwat Okasha is considered a pioneer and the founder of cultural work in Egypt as the country’s first Minister of Culture. He described Okasha as an “icon” of the eternal enlightenment with his ideas, plans and quest towards preserving the authentic Egyptian identity and conscience.

The art exhibition is divided into two parts, the first at Nahdet Misr Gallery, and includes about 42 exhibits of official documents, photographs and press writings.

The second part of the exhibition will be held in Isis Hall and includes the works of seven prominent artists: Ezzedine Naguib, Ismat Doustachi, Ali Desouki, Farghali Abdel Hafeez, Mohamed Rizk, Mahmoud Bakshish and Mustafa Abdel Moati.

The exhibition will run for two days.
