CAIRO - 15 June 2020: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed said decision No.27 for the year 2020 pertaining to the allocation of LE 10 billion in extra funding from the state's budget of 2019/2020 will help propel the economy, curb the negative impact of the coronavirus, increase employment rates via paying dues of companies and contractors and financial liquidity.
This came in a report released by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on extra funding and budget surplus in the fiscal year 2019/2020.
As regards the distribution of the extra funding, the minister said EGP 4 billion were allocated to the Ministry of Higher Education, one billion for the Sports Ministry, LE 1.88 billion for Cairo governorate, LE 2.5 billion for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Communities, LE 0.12 billion are for the Ministry of Transport.
Other allocations from the budget surplus include LE 200 million for the Ministry of Education to provide protective tools against coronavirus during Thanawya Amma exams, LE 250 million for the Ministry of Health, LE 200 million for University hospitals, LE 50 million for Azhar, LE 50 million for Azhar University, LE 100 million for institutes and university hospitals of Azhar, LE 200 million for the Transport Ministry to pay dues of contractors tasked with the middle axis road and LE 700 million for the higher education and scientific research ministry.
