CAIRO – 8 April 2020: Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, Gharbia Governorate, began the experimental operation of producing sterilized face masks.
The production takes place through machines that were manufactured by a team of engineers and workers in the maintenance department.
Chairman and Managing Director of the company, Ashraf Ezzat, supervised the experimental operation of manufacturing the first production line for the machines, and 40 masks per minute were manufactures at a rate of 2400 mph per hour.
According to Ezzat, a working group will be formed to manufacture machines to produce the masks, from the equipment and tools available in the company, and to use the ideas of the company's spinning maintenance workmen.
On the other hand, Misr Spinning and Weaving Company formed joint committees from the medical sector, industrial security and company security, to measure the temperature of the company's workers inside the factories on the second working day after a 15-day hiatus.
This comes as a step to meet the domestic needs of citizens for masks due to the spread of coronavirus.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health recorded on Tuesday 128 news cases of coronavirus and nine deaths. The total number of infections rose to 1450. "Also, 12 patients, including one foreigner, were released from a quarantine hospital on Monday after recovering from coronavirus," added the ministry in a statement.
