CAIRO – 17 June 2017: Four industrial complexes will be issued for investors next month in Minya, Beni Suef, Fayoum and Aswan, Minister of Industry Tarek Kabil said in a statement Saturday.
The move comes as part of a plan to build eight licensed industrial complexes in Upper Egypt, where four complexes were issued in May in Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Assiut, Kabil said.
Four companies have purchased seven terms of reference for the four projects, and official bids are scheduled to be received in July.
Each complex would encompass 200 factories, with a space of 300,000 square meters for each complex, Kabil said, adding that bids for the first four complexes will be evaluated and chosen before the end of 2017.
Kabil said that his ministry handed 72 Upper Egypt contracts for land allocations at no cost for small- and micro-sized projects in Upper Egypt, following an initiative from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
Kabil also said the initiative has created a demand for industrial investment in Upper Egypt, adding that there will be in food industries, chemicals, engineering, textile, pharmaceuticals and building material factory projects.
A total number of 173 land plots were allocated at no cost in Sohag, Assiut, Minya, Luxor and Aswan since the initiative began, head of the Industrial Development Authority Ahmed Abdel Razek said.
