Economic events and conferences in Egypt during February

CAIRO - 7 February 2018: Egypt witnesses various economic events and conferences in February this year. Egypt Today presents these events and provides information about each of them.

“Seamless North Africa FinTech” conference

Egypt hosts the “Seamless North Africa FinTech” conference between February 6 and 7, 2018.

The conference encompasses three key pivotal issues: FinTech, payments and e-commerce, according to the statement.

“Seamless North Africa” aims to bring together different players, such as financial institutions, startups, venture capital, accelerators and incubators, to establish an integrated FinTech- ecosystem, the statement showed.

Financial Technology “FinTech” describes a business that aims at providing financial services by making use of software and modern technology.

The two-day conference is being organized by the CBE, the Council of Arab Economic Unity, the League of Arab States, and the Arab Federation of e-Commerce.

This conference is driven by the country’s quest for the latest global FinTech innovation and development, with a view to transforming to a digital economy, and consequently fostering the concept of financial inclusion, according to a CBE statement.

Furnex & the Home international trade fair

From February 8 to 11(Thursday-Sunday), Furnex & the Home international trade fair will be held at Cairo International Convention Center.

Furnex & The Home is a specialized trade fair serving as a major platform and market place for both trade and public to source quality products for all home and business needs for furniture, furnishings, finishing and accessories.

The fair hosts the top manufacturers, exporters and traders in Egypt serving both the domestic market as well as the regional and International markets. It features the latest trends and design ideas in the entire continent.

Furnex & The Home is considered to be the largest trade fair in Africa in terms of size, number of exhibitors and visitors.

The fair is going to be held on a gross space of 50,000 sqm, with nine halls in both Cairo International Convention Center and Cairo Stadium in Nasr City Cairo Egypt.

Third Africa STI Forum

The third edition of the Africa Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation ("Africa STI Forum") will be held from February 10 to 12, 2018 in Cairo, Egypt.

Third Africa STI Forum is Co-organized by the African Development Bank and the Egyptian government, the event is also supported by the Republic of South Korea, Japan and other partners.

The third edition of the Africa STI Forum emphasizes the importance of research to foster innovation and exploitable goods and services, by focusing on the private sector in five areas: climate change, nutrition, water, ICT and pharmaceuticals - five selected areas as they offer tangible opportunities for economic transformation in Africa.

It targets to achieve economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of the African private sector through the use of science, technology and innovation.

“This objective will be achieved by urging the countries of the continent to invest more in research, higher education and science, to build a knowledge economy and not to miss the train of the new industrial revolution on the move,” a statement by the forum said.

The second edition of “Africa STI forum” took place in Morocco in 2014. It was attended by 19 minister of education, science, technology and innovation, and more than 300 participants. It enlarged the partnership to 21 international organizations.

The second edition focused on assessing the state of STI in Arica, promoting innovation, showcasing best global practices.

Egypt Petroleum Show 2018 (EGYPS)

The second edition of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2018) will be held in Cairo next year, bringing together the region’s key stakeholders shaping the energy industry’s future, the event organizer Global Energy division of dmg events, said in statement.

The exhibition is set to take place from February 12 to 14, 2018.

EGYPS 2018 provides the largest and most important platform for industry professionals to gain insights into the upcoming oil and gas opportunities in Egypt and North Africa, from future licensing rounds, project requirements to short and long term strategic plans and priorities.

The conference will feature four dedicated conference tracks, hosting over 150 expert speakers and attracting over 1,000 conference delegates.

The tracks are Strategic, Technical, Women in Energy and the new Security in Energy.

The two-day conference will host global business leaders discussing key industry topics to support global progress, develop international frameworks and foster growth through strategic partnerships focusing on the shifting dynamics of global trade markets and emerging North African and Mediterranean energy hubs for product export and transit.

The first edition of the show, EGYPS 2017, took place from February 13 to 15, 2017.

The Banking Tech North Africa

The sixth edition of the Banking Technology North Africa Summit will take place from February 19 to 20, 2018 in the Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo, Egypt.

“The sixth edition will gather senior level stakeholders throughout the banking technology value chain in the region to network, collaborate and address the race to become the most advanced North African bank and harnessing the upside of the digital revolution,” according to the Banking Tech statement.

The statement clarified that the participants in this event will learn how to renew and innovate the core business in order to adapt and transform quickly to keep pace with evolving customer expectations.

The Banking Tech North Africa is the most established regional event that gathers key decision makers and influencers from regulators, private and government banks from across the region to network and source new solutions to deliver superior and secure banking experiences in the heart of digital transformation.

Women For Success - Women SME's "World of Possibilities" Conference

The last conference of the month will be Women For Success - Women SME's "World of Possibilities" Conference.

The fourth annual WOMEN FOR SUCCESS Conference will be held in Cairo and Luxor, Egypt from February 17 to 21, 2018.

The conference aims to bring together businesswomen from different countries around the globe to exchange and bring together their experiences and success stories for Small and Medium Businesses.

It also provides an ideal example for the Egyptian businesswomen and how they encourage the cooperation between countries, and how they prove their leadership in enhancing the Egyptian economy in the Middle East.
