CAIRO – 17 December 2024: The trade exchange value between Egypt and Jordan reached $923 million during the first 10 months of 2024, marking a significant increase from $706 million during the same period in 2023, according to the latest data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS reported that Egyptian exports to Jordan climbed to $617 million in the first 10 months of 2024, up from $553 million in 2023. Major exports included fuel, mineral oils, and distillation products worth $103 million, followed by preparations of vegetables and fruits valued at $53 million, fresh vegetables and fruits at $50 million, ready-made garments at $43 million, and electrical machinery and equipment at $38 million.
On the other hand, Egyptian imports from Jordan saw a sharp increase, totaling $306 million compared to $153 million during the same period in 2023. Key imported commodities included fertilizers worth $94 million, plastics and related products at $44 million, pharmaceutical products at $26 million, tobacco valued at $26 million, and vehicles, tractors, bicycles, and parts worth $11 million.
In terms of investments, Jordanian investments in Egypt during the fiscal year 2023/2024 amounted to $21.3 million, down from $40.7 million in 2022/2023. Similarly, Egyptian investments in Jordan dropped to $4 million in 2023/2024, compared to $7.8 million in the previous fiscal year.
