In the future, the capacity can be raised to one million tons, as the plant will be powered by renewable energy, mainly solar and wind energy. Further, the company plans to supply the surplus of its production to the local market.

The plant will include storage, water treatment and electrolysis facilities.  The initial cost is estimated to be $1.6 billion, and later, investments may amount to $10.6 billion, if the production reaches one million tons.

Those details were revealed in a meeting between CEO of Hynfra Tomoho Umeda, and CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba who highlighted that EU planned to import six million tons of green hydrogen and four million tons of green ammonia by 2030.
