CAIRO - 2 September 2024: The Egyptian Drug Authority cooperates with the World Health Organization, exerts efforts to mechanize and digitally transform the industry as well as localize modern technology in drug manufacturing, according to a Monday Cabinet statement.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Ali Al-Ghamrawy, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, on Sunday to review a report on the availability of medicines in the Egyptian market.
Ghamrawy said supply has already increased and the shortage of some remaining medicines will be resolved within a few weeks.
He emphasized the efforts of the Drug Authority in cooperation with the Unified Procurement Authority to localize modern technology in the field of drug manufacturing to prevent shortages.
The government has made “strenuous efforts” during the past months to facilitate the customs release of medicines of which the country is running short, as well as the release of raw materials necessary for the manufacturing process. Such procedures have contributed to meeting the market's needs for medicines, Madbouly said.
The pharmaceutical industry is one of the priority industries of the government, which to support it in line with international standards, he added.
