CAIRO – 14 May 2024: The Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, revealed that the building materials sector experienced a 28 percent increase in exports during 2023.
This announcement took place during a meeting attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, representatives from the Chamber of Building Materials Industries (CBMI), and the Export Council Building Materials (ECBM).
The primary objective of the meeting was to bolster the sector's exports in the upcoming period, as emphasized by Madbouly.
Additionally, Minister Madbouly highlighted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss their visions and proposals, with the aim of achieving specific targets for each export council.
According to Mohamed El-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, the meeting featured various suggestions to reinforce industries associated with this sector.
These suggestions primarily focused on supporting the cement industry, which plays a pivotal role in the construction sector. The intention behind these proposals was to facilitate an increase in cement exports and foster competition in global markets.
Moreover, the meeting encompassed discussions concerning the transition to alternative fuels to mitigate carbon emissions, alongside proposals aimed at strengthening the mining sector.
