Egypt, Jordan to strengthen collaboration in digital sector

The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information, Amr Talaat, and Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, met to discuss collaboration in digital transformation.
 
This came on the sidelines of the 32nd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee’s ministerial meeting.
 
 Talaat emphasized the significance of boosting cooperation in digital transformation.
 
 He advocated for the development of Arab software systems utilizing open-source programs to enhance the performance of governmental entities and service provision.
 
Talaat stressed the importance of sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration in the field of AI, recognizing its crucial role in addressing shared challenges.
 
Additionally, he highlighted the value of collaboration in digital gaming, supporting the establishment of Arab digital gaming systems and the promotion of digital sports teams through competitions, especially for emerging companies.
 
Furthermore, Minister Talaat emphasized the need for a robust legislative framework to regulate AI usage and expand cooperation in areas such as submarine cables and postal services.
 
In March 2021, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information,  and Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to advance cooperation and exchange experiences in digital field.
 
This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in various domains such as digital infrastructure, transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), capacity building, innovation, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks, with a particular focus on investment in these sectors.
