Minister of Trade unveils new round of Industrial Innovation Award

Cairo – October 24, 2023: Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, launched the new edition of the ministry’s Industrial Innovation Award (Ebtaker), and revealed a new three-year action plan to stimulate innovation within the industrial sector.

Held by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with GIZ – on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ) – the program aims to recognize and support Egyptian companies that have developed and implemented various types of innovations.

According to Samir during a press conference on Tuesday, under the direction of President El-Sisi, the award program is within the ministry’s framework to encourage innovation, further develop the industrial sector, and motivate other local companies to improve the sector’s competitiveness.

Registered that Egyptian industrial companies working in the fields of chemical, food, engineering, printing, and packaging industries can register for the program until October 30, 2023, explained an official statement by the trade ministry.

Samir also unveiled plans for a new three-year action plan for 2025 which aims to stimulate innovation in the industrial and related sectors that would contribute to meeting the country’s sustainable development goals in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

According to the minister, his ministry is coordinating closely with partners from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Academy of Research and Technology, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, the industry update center, technology centers, as well as industry chambers, export councils, and a number of leading Egyptian universities to develop the plan.
