CAIRO – 8 September 2021: Ongoing international cooperation portfolio in Egypt currently amounts to about $25 billion and contributes to the implementation of a large number of development projects in various governorates, Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat,  stated Wednesday.

Al-Mashat stressed the need for countries of the world to seek innovative tools to provide funds and achieve integration between development partners.

This came during an interview conducted by Eleni Giokos, CNN anchor and  correspondent , with Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, under the title “Building International Partnerships to Accelerate the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”, as part of the activities of the Egypt International Cooperation (Egypt ICF), organized by the Ministry of International Cooperation.

The Minister of International Cooperation stressed that all countries have faced common challenges since the beginning of 2020 due to the corona pandemic, noting that despite the negative repercussions, it prompted the world to unite and explore common goals.

Al-Mashat explained that one of the most positive aspects demonstrated by the pandemic is the emphasis on the need to focus on multilateral cooperation to achieve sustainable development, which prompted Egypt to gather relevant parties from governments, the private sector, and international bodies in order to share the experiences of different countries in a way that pushes multilateral action.

She stressed that the Egyptian government aims, through its projects, to achieve sustainable development goals, and that the Ministry of International Cooperation has prepared a map to match development funds with the UN goals for sustainable development.

The minister expressed her appreciation for the great participation in the forum, in which Egypt wants to present its experience and share its expertise for more cooperation with international financial institutions and governments.

On Wednesday’s morning, the Egypt-ICF kicked off, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with the participation of several ministers.

The forum is attended by high-level government representatives from Africa, Europe and Latin America, heads of international and regional financial institutions and representatives of the private sector and civil society.
