Egypt’s Minister of Hala Zayed speaks at the 43rd anniversary of the Egyptian Doctor’s Day – Health Ministry
CAIRO – 18 March 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Hala Zayed said Egyptian doctors have shown efficiency amid the pandemic and a capability to face difficult challenges and threats.
Speaking at the 43rd anniversary of the Egyptian Doctor’s Day, Zayed said doctors bravely sacrificed themselves to fight the pandemic, despite all hardships.
She hailed all medical teams and offered her condolences to the families of coronavirus martyrs.
She also pointed out that the medical teams and health workers have played a great role in providing medical service to millions of citizens and implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s health initiatives.
Egypt celebrates the Doctors’ Day annually on March 18. This date marks the inauguration of the first school of medicine in Egypt and the Middle East in Qalyubia’s Abu Zabal.
Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, advisor to the president on health affairs, gave a speech at the celebration today on behalf of Sisi.
In the speech, Sisi praised Egyptian doctors as “the angels of mercy and Allah’s hand to save humanity from the dangers and implications of diseases.”
“I pay tribute to you, the doctors of Egypt everywhere on the land of our beloved Egypt … and all over the world, for the example you introduce of special performance, experience, giving, commitment and sincerity,” Tag El-Din said on behalf of Sisi.
The president has been keen to thank doctors and other medical workers since the pandemic has started in Egypt early last year.
In March 2020, Sisi ordered to boost the allowance of those working in the medical field by a 75 percent increase as a gesture of appreciation for their current efforts to contain the threat of coronavirus.
