The four-day phase, set to start on March 28 until 31, comes as part of the national campaign that targets 16.7 million children for free; with a view to keeping the country polio-free, Zayed said in a statement Thursday.

The campaign is implemented in light of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s vision for improving public health, as well as achieving the sustainable development goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030, she added.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said the first phase of the campaign that was launched on February 28 has resulted in vaccinating 16,533,838 children, including 17,100 non-Egyptians living in the country.

He added that the second phase shall be implemented in all governorates.
