CAIRO – 11 February 2021: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi vowed to continue Egypt’s efforts aiming to advance peace process efforts as he made a phone call on Thursday with his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas.

“Mr. President underscored the fixed Egyptian stance toward the Palestinian issue,” the Presidency said, aiming at resolving the Palestinian issue in accordance with the international decisions and references.

Sisi affirmed the continuation of Egypt’s tireless efforts, in cooperation with the Palestinian brothers and international partners to formulate a clear vision during the coming period, with the aim of advancing the peace process efforts, the Presidency added.

The two leaders have discussed the latest updates related to the Palestinian issue, within the framework of continuous coordination between the two countries, the Presidency noted.

The phone call comes amid active steps Egypt has taken concerning the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and the reconciliation between internal Palestinian factions.

Egypt on Monday hosted a reconciliation dialogue for a dozen of Palestinian factions as well as an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to discuss the Palestinian issue and unify the Arab countries’ voice in this regard.

During the Thursday call, Abbas expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts and esteemed endeavors to back the Palestinian cause.

The Palestinian president praised Egypt’s historic, constant, continuous role that aims to reach a comprehensive, just solution to the Palestinian issue.
