CAIRO - 8 February 2021: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting Sunday to follow up on the executive measures taken to accomplish a presidential initiative dubbed “Home for All Egyptians” aimed at building 500,000 residential units across Egypt.
The initiative is within a project on developing the capitals of governorates and large cities.
Madbouli met with Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Public Enterprise Hisham Tawfik, and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem al-Gazar as well as a number of officials taking part in the project.
The government is working on bringing an end to unlicensed constructions by identifying state-owned empty land plots that can be allocated for housing projects. Some of those lands can be in the acquisition of public enterprise and endowments ministries.
A number of land plots belonging to the Ministry of Public Enterprise among others will be turned into flat-buildings in different governorates, and they will be developed by the New Urban Communities Authority. The buildings will be divided into three categories that are alternative housing to slums, social housing, and non-subsidized housing.
