CAIRO – 27 January 2021: Haneen Hossam and Mawada al-Adham, TikTok bloggers, had their detention renewed on Tuesday for 15 days pending investigation into charges of human trafficking.
The two young women were recently acquitted of “violating family values,” but the court is still deliberating the charges of manipulating other girls into indecent acts to make money.
The bloggers exploited their victims’ poverty and promised to give them money, where Adham and Hossam are part of an organized human trafficking group, according to the prosecution’s allegations.
Adham has been detained since March and Hossam was arrested about a month later. Their TikTok videos mainly show them lip-syncing and dancing to songs.
