Armed Forces’ specialized departments sterilize crowded areas in Cairo

CAIRO – 16 January 2021: Specialized departments of the Egyptian Armed Forces have deployed teams to disinfect and sterilize crowded areas in the capital, including two major metro stations and a bus station.

A statement by the military spokesman said the teams have sterilized Adly Mansour and Haykestep metro stations of the third line of Cairo metro.

The teams also sterilized the Salam bus stop complex that is visited by around 300,000 citizens every day, the spokesman said.

This comes as Egypt has officially suffered from the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic since mid-December.

Earlier in January, The disinfection campaign of the armed forces encompassed Ataba and Mosqi squares and surrounding bus stations, garages, areas and service facilities frequented by large number of citizens in Cairo.

Vehicles and teams were also deployed to sterilize and disinfect the vicinity of Al Hussein and Al Azhar mosques in Cairo.

The areas sterilized this month also included Mogamma El Tahrir building in Cairo and the surrounding area, as well as the bus stations of Abdel Moneim Riad and Ahmed Helmy.

They also disinfected the metro stations of Anwar el Sadat in Tahrir square and El Shohadaa metro station in Ramses square, as well as Ramses railway station.

So far, the country has reported 154,620 coronavirus cases and 8,473 deaths since the outbreak started in Egypt last February.
