Egypt detects new 961 coronavirus cases with 52 deaths

CAIRO - 12 January 2020: According to a statement released by the Health Ministry that 961 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 150,753.


Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 52 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 8,249.



As many as 312 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 119,212 so far, the spokesman said.

 

Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Long Live Egypt Fund has launched an initiative to provide Coronavirus (COIVID-19) vaccine to poor families, children and senior citizens, at a cost of approximately LE 2 billion, said Fund spokesperson Mohamed Mukhtar on Jan. 7.

 

The fund is cooperating with a number of NGOs to register the number of the villages and families who deserve the vaccine, he continued.
 
 
The fund provided food and humanitarian assistance to 660,000 families in the first wave of the Coronavirus, besides providing ventilators and quantities of sterilization and disinfection tools, Mukhtar said.
