His remarks came during a video conference with his aides on Tuesday to discuss the security strategy and review security plans on the new year. The occasion coincides with Christmas holidays and Egypt's hosting of the 2021 International Handball Federation (IHF) Men's World Championship. 

The minister hailed security successes achieved by the security apparatus, calling for caution and vigilance with doubling efforts and activating measures aimed at protecting roads leading to key facilities including airports and ports, as well as train and metro stations to stave off any security threats.

Minister Tawfiq reviewed measures taken by his ministry to fight Covid-19 as part of the state plan to prevent the spread of the pathogen.

He also stressed the importance of treating citizens well with protecting human rights during security operations.
