CAIRO – 24 December 2020: Egypt has allocated isolation hospitals for children who could be infected with the coronavirus (CCOVID-19), said Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar on Thursday.
 
In media remarks to “Today” talks show on DMC channel, the minister added that the new coronavirus variant can infect children, saying that places have been prepared for them.
 
Abdel-Ghaffar emphasized that higher education hospitals are fully prepared to receive Coronavirus cases, noting that Egypt has 115 university hospitals nationwide. “It is expected that the number of the hospital to increase upon the Prime Minister’s directives.
 
In November 2020, the Egyptian higher committee for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis management agreed to open 320 hospitals for coronavirus patients amid the increasing infection rate.
 
A total of 911new coronavirus cases were detected on Wednesday, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 127,972 in Egypt, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. The statement added that 42 patients died from the virus in the same period, raising the death toll to 7,209.
 
The Egyptian Cabinet issued a statement on Wednesday, canceling the Christmas celebrations amid the current pandemic, particularly after the coronavirus strain has mutated.
