CAIRO – 29 August 2020: Egypt’s recovery rate of coronavirus hit to 71.6 percent recovery rate on Saturday.

A total of 70,419 COVID-19 cases recovered and 807 left hospitals after receiving needed treatment, according to Egypt’s Health Ministry.

Egypt recorded 223 new cases infected with Coronavirus, and 20 deaths. The total number of infections until Friday has reached 98,285 cases, and 5,362 deaths.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), if COVID-19 symptoms disappeared for 10 consecutive days, this is an indication that the patient has recovered.

Earlier, Health Minister Hala Zayed affirmed that Egypt has passed the first wave of the novel virus, as Egypt has been recording a decreasing number of cases.

Egypt has reported 206 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases last Wednesday, up from 89 cases on Saturday, the lowest since April 11, according to Egyptian Health Ministry’s figures, two days before an official decision to resume Muslim's Friday prayers in big mosques is set to come into effect.

The Egyptian government has expressed concerns over the rise of coronavirus cases, after it significantly declined over the past few weeks, down from 1,774 cases on June 19, the country’s highest daily count.
