CAIRO - 9 August 2020: Egypt recorded, Saturday, 167 new coronavirus cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 95,314.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 21 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 4,992.

As many as 1,119 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 51,672 so far, the spokesman said.

Statistics for the Ministry of Health and Population revealed last week that the recovery rates for people infected with coronavirus in quarantine hospitals have risen to 53.1 percent for the first time since the beginning of the crisis.
