1,146 stranded Egyptians return home from Kuwait

CAIRO - 20 July 2020: Kuwait's Directorate of Civil Aviation on Monday said 1,146 stranded Egyptians in the Gulf country flew home on seven flights.


Two flights carrying 421 Egyptian nationals left for Cairo, two flights carrying 290 Egyptians for Alexandria along with one flight carrying 145 passengers headed for Sohag, the directorate said in a statement received by MENA office in Kuwait.

One flight with 145 passengers headed for Assiut and one flight with 145 passengers flew to Luxor.

The flights are operated by the airlines of Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways, Air Arabia Egypt company and EgyptAir companies, the statement added. 

In18 July, Kuwait's Directorate of Civil Aviation said 1,060 stranded Egyptians in the Gulf country flew home on six flights.

Egypt suspended international aviation on March 19 as a protective measure against COVID-19 repatriating - on exceptional flights - since then around 30,000 Egyptians stuck abroad. The beginning was with citizens who were in visits or temporary stays. Later, authorities have been bringing home expats who lost their jobs, particularly in Gulf countries.
