CAIRO 21 May 2020: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from British counterpart Dominic Raab on Thursday, discussing the bilateral relations between both countries and Britain, as well as issues of mutual concern, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez in a statement.

The two ministers affirmed to enhance and promote bilateral relations in various fields, praising the momentum witnessed characterizing relations of cooperation during the past period, and affirmed the importance of continuing to develop them in order to achieve the interests of the two peoples and countries, Hafez added.

“The call also tackled a number of regional issues of mutual interest, main developments of the Palestinian issue, stressing the necessity of preserving the two-state solution. The two officials also exchanged views on developments of the situation in Libya, and ways to advance efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement that would restore security and stability there,” he said.

Shoukry and Raab exchanged views on means to address the novel Coronavirus pandemic, and agreed on the importance of intensifying coordination and cooperation on the international level in order to contain its spread and mitigate its repercussions on various fronts, Hafez continued.
