CAIRO – 7 May 2020: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli on Thursday said the preventive measures taken to face the coronavirus crisis during the first half of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan will continue for the rest of the month.
Among these measures is a night curfew from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am, and opening commercial centers over the whole week until 5:00 pm.
In a press conference, Madbouli said the budget for the new fiscal year will include an article allocating LE 100 billion ($6.35 billion) to raise wages and pensions, affirming that the state has been keen to not place extra burden on citizens during the coronavirus crisis.
The preventive measures taken aimed at curbing the spread of the novel virus, Madbouli said, noting that the official figures of coronavirus cases in the country indicate that the situation is still under control.
Reviewing state’s efforts to repatriate citizens stranded abroad, Madbouli said authorities have brought back over 1,100 Egyptians from Kuwait over the past two days.

This comes while 387 people in Egypt tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) recently, making one of the highest daily counts in Egypt, and 17 people died with the novel virus, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
This brings the total number of reported cases and deaths to 7,588 and 469 respectively, the ministry said.
The test results of 2,314 people of the reported cases turned from positive to negative, including 1,815 people who fully recovered.
Also, 85 cases, all of them Egyptians, left hospital after they recovered, according to the instructions of the World Health Organization (WHO).
During the virtual weekly meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday, Madbouli also greeted the Armed Forces on the occasion of 10th of Ramadan (October War) victory anniversary and the of Sinai Liberation Day, stressing that the Armed Forces personnel will always remain Egypt’s protective shield and strong bastion protecting the country from dangers.
He asserted the full solidarity of the great Egyptian citizens, ministries and governmental bodies with the Egyptian Armed Forces and police, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs who lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Bir Al-Abd town of Sinai.
CAIRO - 3 May 2020: In light of the repercussions of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and terrorism that destabilizes the state, Egypt's Cabinet approved the state of emergency for three months as of April 28, 2020, announced Prime Minister Mustafa Mabdouli on Sunday.
