CAIRO, April 18 (MENA) - The Supreme Council of Universities has decided to cancel final oral and written exams for all university students, except for seniors, as part of precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The council took the decision Saturday during a meeting under the chairmanship of Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to follow up the latest developments of the global pandemic and its impact on the educational process.
The council made it clear that exams will cover curricula taught online until April 30, adding that students will be required to prepare a research paper or undergo an electronic test based on a decision by the board of the university.
If the research paper was found to be inappropriate or the student failed to undergo the e-test, the university may test the student again in the same way, and if he failed for the second time, he will not be announced successful, the council said.
All details of the research papers and e-tests will be announced by Thursday, May 7, the council said, adding that that students will start submitting the research papers and undergoing the e-tests on Sunday, May 31.
