CAIRO – 14 April 2020: Abdel Moneim Ibrahim, 88, left Tuesday a quarantine hospital in Qaha governorate, northeastern Egypt, after he recovered from coronavirus.

Abdullah has four sons and 10 grandchildren; his name has dominated news as the oldest patient to recover from COVID-19 infection in Egypt.

After he felt normal flu symptoms, he was taken to Abbasiya Fever Hospital, where he discovered he is infected with coronavirus. He then moved to Qaha Quarantine hospital, where he stayed for a whole week and received treatment.

He underwent two tests every day, and then his results showed he tested negative after he fully recovered, raising the number of recovered patients in Qaha to 36 cases.

The medical team at the hospital celebrated Abdullah’s recovery as one of the few elderly cases who overcome the virus. COVID-19 has been found to be fatal in cases of older patients and those with chronic diseases.
