CAIRO - 8 April 2020: The British ambassador to Cairo has thanked President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for sending the U.K. prime minister a message wishing him speedy recovery from Covid-19.

In a Wednesday statement, Sir Geoffrey Adams expressed his gratitude to Sisi’s “thoughtful” gesture.

On Tuesday, Sisi said on Facebook that "Egypt appreciates the U.K.'s efforts, led by [Prime Minister Boris] Johnson, in its endeavors to limit the spread of this virus."

In early April, U.K. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab sent his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, expressing his gratitude to the Egyptian Government for the “flexibility and efficiency” in returning more than 13,000 Britons home.

“The excellent cooperation between both countries during the past weeks was an illustration of the kind of partnership agreed between President Sisi and Prime Minister Johnson when they met in London in January 2020,” Raab said.
