CAIRO - 22 March 2020: The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade started offering hand sanitizers - whereas alcohol constitutes 70 percent of their components - in the branches of the Egyptian Wholesale Company and the Public Wholesale Company.

The product will soon be offered in supermarkets affiliated with the ministry, where citizens holding ration cards shop. Also, the ministry is offering 555 eau de cologne at LE36 for 250-milliliter bottles, and will soon make available 125-milliliter bottles.

Minister of Supply Ali al-Moselhy told the press that all control agencies are monitoring markets to ensure the absence of hoarding and price manipulation, and to check the expiry dates of products displayed. The goods monitored are primarily food and detergents.

The minister affirmed that violations proven by investigations will be penalized by confiscation of the products, license revocation, and referral to the Supreme State Security Prosecution. Moselhy urged manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers to abide by laws regulating internal trade, and to not exploit the coronavirus crisis.

The Ministry of Health and Population declared on Sunday that coronavirus deaths rose by four, raising the total number to 14, and that the confirmed positive cases hiked by 33 to be 327. The number of patients who recovered and left the quarantine hospital increased to become 56, while that of patients whose test results turned negative but still in quarantine are 74.
