CAIRO – 12 March 2020: Extreme precautionary measures are being taken at the Egyptian airports; these measures include regular disinfection for airport terminals, planes and public utilities.
These measures come in response to the government’s directions to protect the country from the virus in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry.

Egypt’s Minster of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar affirmed that all the airports are cooperating with the Ministry of Health and following its criteria regarding the sterilization procedures and quarantines.

On Wednesday, Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced that out of 60 confirmed coronavirus cases, some 27 cases have recently tested negative. The condition of these 27 people is stable and they are still in the quarantine hospital in Matrouh, being treated according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization.

Khaled Megahed, spokesperson of the Health Ministry, said Tuesday that no other coronavirus cases have been detected, adding that any new case would be announced in coordination with the World Health Organization.
"Meanwhile, entry ports in the country are monitored closely by the ministry," Megahed continued.
