PCR test is available at central labs: Health Ministry

CAIRO – 7 March 2020: Ministry of Health assured that the technique of polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is used to detect the infection of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), is available at central laboratories of the ministry.

“The test determines the presence of viruses and their quantity in the blood,” said a statement by the ministry, as it confirmed that the test is conducted in a short period and the results appear in 3-4 days at the latest, besides it is affordable.

The sample is taken and analyzed at central laboratories at the ministry, said the statement.

Saudi Arabia announced that all arrivals from countries that recorded Corona infections should submit PCR certificates.

Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Manar on Saturday inspected Cairo International Airport to follow up the measures that have been taken to conduct medical tests for the arriving passengers.
