Cairo – 2 March 2020: The Egyptian ministry of antiquities lit Sunday several monuments in different governorates with the Chinese flag as a gesture of solidarity with the Chinese people in their fight against Coronavirus outbreak.
The lit-up monuments included Salah El Din citadel in Cairo, Karnak temple complex in Luxor, and Philae Temple in Aswan.
The gesture coincides with the departure of the Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed to China on Sunday to aid the Chinese authorities in their struggle to put an end for the virus outbreak.
Ahead of her scheduled flight, the minister met with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli to follow up on the updates of coronavirus and the government's contingency plan on a national level.
