CAIRO – 7 May 2017: Treatments for Hepatitis C are available in Egypt, Health Ministry spokesperson Khalid Mujahid said Saturday.

Mujahid added, during a phone interview with Al-Hayah satellite channel, that the number of HCV patients in Egypt is decreasing.

He affirmed the existence of campaigns that scan schools, universities and villages across Egypt for Hepatitis C infections.

The spokesperson said convoys deployed by the Ministry of Health are currently scanning nine governorates in Upper Egypt, while 600 villages will be reached by June 2017.

He also added that HCV patients will get treatment at the state’s expense, pointing out that recovered citizens can easily get an HCV recovery certificate.
