CAIRO – 28 December 2017: The procedures of moving Egyptian national Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi, who was killed in Jordan Wednesday, have finished, according to Egypt’s Embassy in Amman.

In an official statement issued Thursday, the embassy affirmed that all the needed procedures of moving Morsi’s corpse back to his country were complete. He is scheduled to leave Jordan on EgyptAir flight number 740 which will depart from Queen Alia International Airport in the evening.

The Jordanian authorities denied in a statement the authenticity of the photo published on several media outlets, claiming to be related to the incident. "It is completely irrelevant," the authorities affirmed.

The embassy said in another statement issued earlier that whoever committed the crime of assaulting and killing the Egyptian national will be punished according to the law.

It was added that the embassy has been following up all the updates of the Egyptian citizen's case since the beginning, and that they have done everything in their power to support the victim, including moving him from a private hospital to Zarqa city government hospital where he was under the doctors’ constant supervision.

According to the initial diagnosis, the Egyptian citizen suffered from double skull fractures and internal bleeding that led to his death.

On December 27, it was reported that the Egyptian national Ali el-Sayed el-Morsi was hospitalized as a result of being beaten and dragged by several Jordanians during a fight over money (up to 2,000 JOD). Morsi was later announced dead due to his injuries.
