CAIRO – 19 October 2017: The Cairo Court of Appeals rejected Thursday Prominent Leader of Terrorist Muslim Brotherhood Group (MB) Essam El Erian's appeal to recuse Judge Mohamed Sherin Fahmy in the trial over espionage.

El Erian and former president Mohamed Morsi, as well as other prominent MB leaders are accused of espionage for foreign entities abroad and disclosure of national security vital information, as well as coordinating with violent groups in Egypt and abroad with the intention of carrying out terrorist operations on Egyptian territories.

The court has fined El Erian with an amount of EGP4,000.

Earlier, the court headed by Fahmy suspended the trial until a rule was issued concerning his appeal to recuse the judge
