IS members robbed Benghazi’s banks: Libyan Prosecution

CAIRO – 28 September 2017: The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group in Libya, (also known as Da’esh) got a lot of money through robbing banks especially in Benghazi, according to the Libyan Prosecution chef Al-Sidiq al-Sowr.

He added in a press conference, Thursday, that during investigating IS members who were arrested by the army, the terrorists affirmed that they depended on robbing banks and blackmailing the Libyan businessmen for getting money.

Al-Sowr added that the investigations also assured that IS members were behind the incident of storming the American embassy in Benghazi 2012.

About 200 convicted in terrorist attacks incidents and assassinations were arrested from several Libyan cities during the past period according to al-Sowr.

Earlier, the Libyan Prosecution announced that they arrested the perpetrator from IS who slaughtered 21 Egyptians, along with the man who videotaped the act, in January 2015.
The latest investigations into the terrorist act revealed that it is believed to have taken place behind the Mahary Hotel in Sirte. "The burial sites of the Copts bodies were also identified,” the Libyan prosecution added in its statement.
