CAIRO – 13 September 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will deliver a keynote address on Tuesday to the delegates of the participating countries at the 9th International Conference on Financial Inclusion held in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail also left Cairo International Airport on Wednesday evening, heading to Sharm el-Sheikh to participate in the conference.
The International Conference on Financial Inclusion, organized by the International Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) in the cooperation with Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), kicked off on Wednesday and will last until Friday.
More than 94 states and 119 international institutions will take part in the three-day event held under the auspices of President Sisi, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund.
The governors of the Central Bank and members of the AFI, the Central Bank of Egypt board of directors and representatives from international financial institutions will attend the conference.
The conference, titled “Discovering Ways of Diversification and Enhancing Financial Inclusion,” is being held for the first time in an Arab country. It aims to discuss how to empower policymakers to increase access to quality financial services for the poorest populations and introduce reforms in financial inclusion.
The alliance organizes a financial inclusion conference annually, which was held in Kenya in 2009. Similar gatherings were held in Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, Malaysia, Mozambique and Fiji.
