CAIRO – 12 September 2017: Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. General Mahmoud Hegazy met on Tuesday the United Nations (UN) delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Carlos Humberto Loitey, the UN Military Adviser for Peacekeeping Operations during their current visit to Egypt.

The meeting was attended by a number of Egyptian military forces leaders who discussed several topics regarding Egyptian participation in peacekeeping forces for the United Nations and the efforts that aim at setting the foundations of security and peace on the regional and international levels.

Hegazy confirmed that Egypt was at the forefront of states supporting UN efforts in peacekeeping since 1960 and still exerts great effort in that field, expressing the preparation of the Egyptian military forces for more cooperations with its capacities and experience in the peacekeeping field.

For his part, Loitey commends the high level of Egyptian military forces participating in UN peacekeeping and its essential role to keep security and stability in several states.
