BEIRUT - 22 August 2017: Leaders of the Palestinian Fatah and Hamas movements held a meeting in Lebanon on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp Ain Al Hilweh.

The meeting was attended by Palestinian Ambassador in Beirut Ashraf Dabbour.

In a joint statement, leaders of the two movements called for maintaining the camp's security and facing extremism there.

They further praised efforts exerted by the political leadership in Sidon to stop violence at the camp.

A ceasefire broke down at Ain Al Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon on Monday as armed elements and the camp’s security forces clashed for a fifth day in battles that have left at least four dead.

According to The National, heavy weapons including mortar rounds have been used in the battle, with stray munitions causing damage in neighborhoods adjacent to the camp
