CAIRO - 20 January 2025: The United Nations (UN) announced that the Israeli war in Gaza resulted in the displacement of 90 percent of Palestinian citizens from their homes.

"A total of 92 percent of the homes in the Gaza Strip, equivalent to 436 thousand homes, were destroyed or damaged as a result of the Israeli aggression," said the UN, according to a breaking news report by Al-Qahera News TV Channel.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the prisoner exchange deal went into effect as of 11:00 am Sunday, the first phase of which is 42 days long, followed by Hamas handing over three Israeli detainees, in addition to the occupation releasing 90 Palestinian prisoners.

Hundreds of trucks loaded with Egyptian aid entered Gaza, as well as medical equipment designated for hospitals and fuel necessary to operate generators and water stations that the Strip depends on, in light of a severe electricity and water crisis.

The mediating countries, Egypt, Qatar and the United States of America, announced last Wednesday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal in the Strip for prisoners in the occupation prisons.
