Egyptian Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi
CAIRO – 23 December 2024: Egyptian Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi after the latter visited Syria and met with the new Syrian de-facto leader Ahmed El Sharaa on Monday.
Abdeatty and Safadi tackled the latest developments in Syria as the Egyptian Foreign Minister listened to the outcomes of Safadi’s visit to Syria, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.
Both Ministers affirmed the necessity to suuport the Syrian state and respect its soversignty and unity of its territories. They also highlighted the importance of enhancing the coordination among the active regional and international parties to support Syria.
The two Ministers also continued that it is vital for the Syrian people to exert efforts for rebuilding their state and insutitutions through a comprehensive political process with a Syrian ownership and leadership and witb the participation of all Syrian components of its nation.
In comments after his meeting with Sharaa, Safadi told media in Damascus that Syria is witnessing a new start that deserve the support for Syria and the whole region. He also voiced his country’s readiness to support Syria.
Safadi added in the media comments that his meeting with Sharaa tackled the security and stability in Syria, noting that Jordan is ready to send aid to Syrians as the borders are open. He noted that Syrians want to return their home but their return should be safe and voluntarily
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Foreign Minister and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan talked over phone about the latest developments in Syria, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.
The phone conversation addressed the latest miliary and political developments in Syria, the statement added.
Abdelatty affirmed that supporting the Syrian state in this critical phase in Syria’s history is a must. He also said that it is necessary to respect the Syrian sovereignty and unity of its territories and enable all the Syrian institutions to perform their roles.
The Egyptian Minister also said that it is vital for Syria to adopt a comprehensive political process with a Syrian leadership and participation of all components of the Syrian people to reclaim the stability across the country.
Both Ministers also tackled the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts with the concerned parties to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire and delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip without any burdens.
The phone call was made after a Saudi delegation visited Syrian on Sunday and met with Ahmed El-Sharaa, the leader of the Syrian opposition military operation that toppled the regime of the ousted President Bashar Al-Assad.
