CAIRO – 19 December 2024: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan embarked on a journey to Cairo on Thursday to partake in the summit of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Presidential Chief Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs Akif Cagatay Kilic are also slated to join the summit.

The anticipated discussions during the summit will focus on enhancing economic cooperation among member states, with a particular emphasis on a dedicated session addressing matters concerning Palestine and Lebanon.

Established in 1997 in Turkey, the D-8 aims to fortify economic and social ties among its member countries, which include Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
