Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (L) receives Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, December 11, 2024 – Egyptian Presidency
CAIRO – 11 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has instructed continued state efforts aimed at advancing the human rights of the Egyptian people within a comprehensive framework.
The Egyptian Presidency emphasized that Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, who also chairs the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights (SSCHR), presented the third executive report of the National Human Rights Strategy to the president on Wednesday.
The executive report outlined the progress achieved in implementing the National Human Rights Strategy across all its dimensions in Egypt over the past year.
This progress ensures the enhancement of Egyptian human rights in a comprehensive manner, encompassing civil, political, economic, social, and cultural aspects. It also focuses on improving the rights of women, youth, children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.
The president underscored the state's dedication to promoting human rights comprehensively, aiming to provide Egyptians with a dignified and stable life where they can fully enjoy their rights while reinforcing the principles of citizenship, the rule of law, and non-discrimination.
Moreover, Sisi mandated sustained efforts to raise awareness of human rights in all state institutions and enhance public understanding of rights and responsibilities.
He stressed the importance of continually developing legislative and institutional structures to support these initiatives.
The National Human Rights Strategy 2021-2026 was launched by President Sisi during his previous term in office in September 2021.
The strategy is founded on a vision that seeks to advance all human rights in Egypt by promoting respect for and protection of civil, political, economic, social, cultural, educational, and capacity-building rights.
It specifically addresses the human rights of women, children, individuals with disabilities, youth, and the elderly.
The ultimate objective of the strategy is to enhance equality and provide equal opportunities without any form of discrimination.
The strategy serves as a national ambitious roadmap for human rights and a crucial tool for self-improvement in this domain.
