CAIRO- 2 November 2024: The birth rate in Egypt has decline over the past five years, announced the state-owned Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The CAPMAS’ Egyptian Family Health conducted a survey and the data shown that the fertility rate in Egypt has declined, as it recorded 3.5 children per woman in 2014 and decreased to 2.85 children per woman in 2021.
Additionally, the data revealed that the fertility rate continued to decline, reaching 2.76 children per woman in 2022 and then 2.54 children per woman in 2023.
The CAPMAS explained that despite this decline, the current number of births, which exceeds 2 million births annually, represents a major challenge in various economic, social and environmental fields. It added that the overpopulation drains the state's resources and constitutes an obstacle to the state's ongoing efforts to raise the standard of living.
The population in Egypt was recorded at 107 million people inside the country, according to the population clock data of the CAPMAS.
