CAIRO - 2 November 2024: The Egyptian state is taking many steps and successive measures to transform into a green economy in all aspects of life, including the housing and utilities sector.

The Egyptian government also continues to work on enhancing green mechanisms to achieve environmental sustainability.

In this regard, the government of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly aims in its 3-year program (2024-2027); an integrated plan, to raise the rate of greening and ensure environmental sustainability, primarily implementing urban greening strategies, such as: green roofs, green walls, and tree belts to increase shading and evaporation.

The government also aims to complete the 100 million tree initiative, green belts around main roads, industrial and new cities, and develop sustainable buildings with better performance that use less energy, water and other resources and generate less pollution.

The government is working - in light of its plan - to increase the per capita share of green spaces, improve air quality, combat pollution and desertification in various residential areas.

In addition to this, the government is implementing cool paving strategies such as: reflective pavement, or porous pavements to reduce the impact of urban heat islands, and using sustainable building materials to reduce the environmental impact of construction projects, save energy, reduce pollution and preserve natural resources.
