Makary, in exclusive statements to MENA on the fringe of the 13th Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 in Jordan, said that Egypt is a great and pivotal country in the region and worldwide, with great hope is placed in its pioneering status in joint Arab and international action to stop the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and its people.

The Lebanese minister said that Egypt has been playing a crucial role since the beginning of the war with Arab and international partners to pressure toward stopping the aggression.

He praised President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's efforts at the Arab and international levels since the beginning of the aggression, noting that he has spared no effort to push toward stopping the war on Lebanon.

Makary underscored that Egyptian-Lebanese relations are historical and profound, adding that his country counts heavily on the time-honored Egyptian role.

He called on the Arab world to join forces and exert greater pressure, alongside the Egyptian effort, to stop this war that has left nothing but destruction and devastation in Lebanon and the region.

As regards Lebanon's demands from the anticipated joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit that was called for by Saudi Arabia and slated for November 11 to address developments in Palestine and Lebanon, Makary said that the message of the Lebanese people to the leaders of this summit is that they are suffering from the ravages of war and want this aggression to stop immediately.

The Lebanese people want to remain in their homeland and preserve it for generations to come, Makary stressed, describing the past five years as the most difficult in Lebanon's history.

Speaking about foreign interference obstructing the restoration of security and stability in Lebanon, Makary said that the Lebanese people welcome any efforts aimed at putting an end to the war and rebuilding the Lebanese state.
