Egyptian-Bangladeshi consultations to take place in Dec. 2024

CAIRO – 31 October 2024: Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Fahmy met Interim Prime Minister Mohamed Younes to deliver an invitation from the Egyptian president for D-8 Summit to be hosted in Cairo on December 19.

 

D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is an organization for economic cooperation among the following countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkiye.

 

Following the summit, there will be consultations among the officials of both states to bolster ties. Hence, the ambassador suggested that members of the Bangladeshi business community would attend to explore investment opportunities in Egypt.

 

Further, Ambassador Younes expressed support to a smooth and democratic transition of power in the country through free and fair elections. He also thanked Bangladesh for supporting Khaled al-Anany, Egyptian candidate to the UNESCO secretary-general position.
