Man Caught Smuggling 1 M EGP Hidden in Shawarma Sandwiches from Egypt to Kuwait

CAIRO – July 13, 2024: A video went viral on social media showing that Egyptian authorities at the Cairo International Airport arresting a man trying to smuggle more than one million EGP inside Shawarma sandwiches.

The man, traveling on EgyptAir Flight No. 615 to Kuwait, was apprehended during a routine security check.

Sources at the airport told the local media that that while the authorities were searching the man’s bags, they found a sum of money amounting to 1,253,000 EGP that he had hidden inside shawarma meals to mislead security personnel.

The same source confirmed that legal measures had been taken against the passenger.
