CAIRO – 6 July 2024: The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian National Dialogue convened, Saturday, July 6, 2024, to address several issues on its agenda.

These include the progress of implementing recommendations from the first phase of the National Dialogue and addressing outstanding matters, particularly focusing on pretrial detention issues.

Additionally, they will continue discussions on unresolved topics from previous stages at the National Training Academy headquarters.

Among the key recommendations urgently requiring implementation are draft laws for House of Representatives and Senate elections, which would be dissolved within a year. Additionally, the draft law concerning local popular councils holds significance due to its pivotal role in the political, societal, and party framework of the country.

During its meeting, the Board of Trustees emphasized the urgency for the government to promptly submit a draft law aimed at extending judicial supervision over all general elections in the country. This action is in accordance with the unanimous decision of the National Dialogue, which was welcomed by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
